How to Enable Mail Logging in Opera
1. Close down Opera and edit accounts.ini in the mail folder. Enter opera:about in Opera's address field to find the location.
2. Under the section for the account you want, set the "Incoming Log File" and the "Outgoing Log File" lines to:
Incoming Log File={Home}Desktop/accountN_inlog.txt
Outgoing Log File={Home}Desktop/accountN_outlog.txt ,
where N is the number for the account as seen in accounts.ini.
That will put the log files on your desktop.
Only set the line that's necessary. If you don't need to log the sending of messages, you don't need to set "Outgoing Log File".
Opera will continue writing to these files as long as they're set, so note that they can get huge after a while. You can delete them before starting up Opera if you want a fresh log or unset the lines in accounts.ini while Opera is closed when you don't need to log anymore.
So, if you need to log a problem, start Opera while logging is enabled and try to reproduce the problem you're having. Then, close down Opera and zip up the log file with WinZip? or 7-Zip or Winrar or your favorite zip utility.
If you file a bug report at https://bugs.opera.com/wizard/, after you submit the report and get the email address for the bug, if a log is necessary, you can send the zip file of the log to that address to upload it to the bug report. If you're later contacted by Opera to send in a log, this is what you do too.
